Loonatics

Some things just ain't right. Warner Brothers is "updating" some of the classic Looney Tunes characters...Bugs, Daffy, Taz, Roadrunner, Wile E., and (relative newcomer) Babs...into the "edgy" futuristic super-hero types you see above. Not cool. (Yeah, I'm an unyielding traditionalist/grumpy old fogey about some things...and I'm okay with that.)

"Loonatics" (working title) is scheduled to debut this fall.

Thank the universe that the classic Looney Tunes cartoons are being given the deluxe DVD treatment they deserve (two great collections thus far)...kids (of all ages) deserve to be able enjoy and appreciate the real deal and not this marketing department/focus group/"wouldn't it be cool if..." pretender to the throne.

(And yes, I know...it's only a cartoon and it probably will not work and it's not the end of the world if it does...I just had to have my say and now I have and I'm done :-)

ha Road Runner was always my fave, he sure could make the Wiley's life a living hell. lol

and now look at him, sheeesh he looks like the evil beast/bird incarnate, how could he possibly make Wiley's life worse than it was even with the new look? faster maybe? i guess we'll have ta wait and see!

I don't like it one bit. If they want to give loony a hard edge, they should make new characters entirely.

I grew up with the old Warner Brothers shorts (on TV -- I'm not that old). So my heart lies with the oldschool stuff.

That said, I'd have to get a gander at this re-imagined "hard edged" effort before passing judgement. Just because it's different doesn't mean it'll suck. Besides, whole ranges of clasic characters have been undergoing these updates, especially in comic books. It's jarring, but understandable.
